Eliza Huszti and Henrietta Huszti (born 1992 or 1993) are two Hungarian twins who disappeared from the city of Aberdeen on 7 January 2025.
Personal background
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti are two sisters from a set of triplets. They were born in Hungary but moved to Aberdeen, Scotland around 2015. They lived in a flat in the city centre and were saving money to buy their own home. The sisters were described as "cautious women" by their brother Joszef. They were also said to have no financial difficulties.
Disappearance
The sisters were last seen around 02:12 GMT 7 January 2025 on Market Street in the Torry area of the city near the Queen Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen. No trace has been found of them since. It was noted that it was out of character for the sisters to be out at that time as they were not known for going out and preferred to stay at home. At the time of the disappearance, the area was covered in ice and snow. The alarm was raised by the sisters' landlady who had visited their address to discuss the termination of their tenancy. Joszef stated that the family was not aware of the sisters' decision to end their tenancy, and described it as "strange" that they would not have been told. He also stated that the sisters were very close to their mother and would speak to her frequently and that they had had a 40-minute phone conversation with her in the days prior to their disappearance and that nothing had seemed "out of the ordinary". He reported the girls as seeming "fine"
Investigation
Following the missing persons report, Police Scotland followed the hypothesis that the sisters had entered the River Dee, and began searching the water, later expanding the search to air and land and urging local businesses to check CCTV footage for any sighting of the sisters. Investigators are also searching the many commercial and industrial units that surround the area.Police Scotland are being supported by the Hungarian police force, who are liaising with the family in Budapest.
Later investigations found that the sisters had been captured on CCTV walking onto a footpath running adjacent to the River Dee. Police Superintendent Davie Howieson has stated that the police do not believe that the sisters' disappearance is linked to a criminal offence and that it is being treated as a missing persons inquiry. Howieson also stated that investigators have "a number of hypotheses" and that they have carried out "extensive inquiries".
