Yeardley Smith

Martha Maria Yeardley Smith (born July 3, 1964 in Paris, France) is an American actress and voice actor who is best known for providing the voice of Lisa Simpson (and occasionally, both on the Tracy Ullman shorts and the half-hour show, for Maggie Simpson) on the animated television show The Simpsons. She also appeared on the sitcom Herman's Head and guest-starred on Showtime's Dead Like Me, the Disney Channel's Phil of the Future, and the Mathnet segment of the Children's Television Workshop show Square One.

Some of her film credits include The Legend of Billie Jean, Maximum Overdrive and As Good as It Gets.

She is the daughter (and namesake) of J.Y. Smith, the obituary writer for The Washington Post.
