Spider-Man 3 is the third movie in the Spider-Man series and is planned for an American release on May 4, 2007. The movie will be directed by Sam Raimi. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, J.K. Simmons, and James Franco are the confirmed returning cast members from the previous two Spider-Man movies.

It has been confirmed that the actor Thomas Haden Church will be playing the main villain. The Sandman or Venom are the two most rumored possibilities. The Lizard, once considered the most likely option, has probably been removed as a possibility, since the actor who plays Dr. Curt Connors is Dylan Baker. Another villain could be the second Green Goblin, played by Franco. The first Green Goblin was the villain in the first film and was also the father of Franco's character. Sam Raimi did happen to let slip, in an interview with Wizard: The Comics Magazine, that there will be more than one villian, so Sandman, Lizard and Green Goblin, or even a Sinister Six, could all be possible. Though in this interview, Avi Arad as much as denied Sandman or Venom would appear in the film, he seemed to be joking. At any rate, actor Topher Grace has joined the cast, while his part is unknown.
