Hindu extremists of India have threatened her for writing about social aspects of Hinduism. In an interview Doniger explained that this kind of fundamentalism is not new to Hinduism; the movement has a long history, but now has a political cast. According to the New York Times, she is the scholar who enraged Hindu puritans .
Wendy Doniger is the translator of numerous Sanskrit texts including the Rig Veda, Laws of Manu, and Kamasutra. EROTIC SPIRITUALITY AND THE KAMASUTRA is one of her most famous books.
