When used in English, it generally means Japanese animation or comics with explicit sexual or pornographic content. The actual amount of depictions of sexual activity in a hentai may varycensorship]] laws, it is not allowed to depict an exposed vagina, so you often see blurs or bars over the vagina in hentai drawings. Pubic hair is also not allowed, so this rule was circumvented by simply drawing girls with no pubic hair. This has become very prevalent.
