    Mediawiki:Spam-blacklist is meant to be used by the spam blacklist extension. Unlike the meta spam blacklist, this blacklist affects pages on the English Misplaced Pages only. Any administrator may edit the spam blacklist. See Misplaced Pages:Spam blacklist for more information about the spam blacklist.

    Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

    Completed requests are archived. Additions and removals are logged, reasons for blacklisting can be found there.

    Addition of the templates {{Link summary}} (for domains), {{IP summary}} (for IP editors) and {{User summary}} (for users with account) results in the COIBot reports to be refreshed. See User:COIBot for more information on the reports.

    If in doubt, please leave a request and a spam-knowledgeable admin will follow-up.

    Please consider using Special:BlockedExternalDomains instead, powered by the AbuseFilter extension. This is faster and more easily searchable, though only supports whole domains and not whitelisting.

    1. Does the site have any validity to the project?
    2. Have links been placed after warnings/blocks? Have other methods of control been exhausted? Would referring this to our anti-spam bot, XLinkBot be a more appropriate step? Is there a WikiProject Spam report? If so, a permanent link would be helpful.
    3. Please ensure all links have been removed from articles and discussion pages before blacklisting. (They do not have to be removed from user or user talk pages.)
    4. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regular expressions — the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
    5. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
    6. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number – 216640331 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

    Per m:talk:Spam blacklist, allaahuakbar.net needs to be blacklisted on meta but there are a number of links on several projects. I have just cleaned up enWP so am blacklisting here temporarily to stop them creeping back in, I will remove it when the meta blacklist entry goes in. Guy (Help!) 20:55, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

    I propose that youtube links should be addable by autoconfirmed users only, to reduce the amount of copyvio links added. Stifle (talk) 18:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

    Concerns of possible Linking to copyrighted works is a persuasive reason. These videos are re-posted anonomously typicaly from other sources (the creator's) and are carrying the work in violation of the creator's copyright. Permissioned alternatives are most always available from the "actual" source(the creator's). Misplaced Pages need not be a part in contributory infringement. Lets allow for more input, simply because of the amount of these links currently on the project. --Hu12 (talk) 19:08, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
    Note that bug 1505 was recently fixed. Existing links are no longer affected by the spam blacklist. MER-C 12:35, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
    I don't think that blacklisting youtube is a good idea. YouTube has been used for copyright infringement, maybe. But that's not Misplaced Pages's care. Many companies, artists and organizations use YouTube to upload their videos to share with the world and those videos are legit to link from Misplaced Pages. If there is infringement, YouTube will and does deal with it anyway. There will always be incorrect links to not allowed videos according to YouTube's Terms of Use but those links can be removed. Blocking, even for only a certain group of editors, will not help at all but instead be harmful to the project. --SoWhy 14:22, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
    Blacklisting youtube is not a good idea. Zealous editors would simply use the fact that it's in the blacklist to gallop around removing thousands of links for no other reason. It's a scenario for another ArbCom and we shouldn't be creating this sort of disruption to the project. Any editor who sees a copyvio can revert and we should leave it at that in this case.     I agree that blacklisting youtube would be disruptive. Furthermore, Youtube is owned by one of the wealthiest companies in the world, Google, and as a potential magnet for copyright lawsuits, they are diligent in taking down copyright infringements when made aware of them.
    Also, youtube links were being added in early 2007 at the daily rate of 100 to 150 based on Veinor's link reports; I'm guessing we probably have 50,000 to 100,000 by now. Any decision to blacklist these links should involve a wider community discussion than we're having here.
    I suspect many of our youtube links are not of encyclopedic quality; if so, it may worth considering setting up XLinkBot to monitor and revert link additions by unregistered users. --A. B. 16:52, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
    Concur with that. There are zillions of articles where youtube links are not only appropriate, but also crucial, cf. Umbrella (song). And since we are currently unable to restrict a link to autoconfirmed users only, I consider this request  Not done. MaxSem 16:58, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

    Articles are not professionally written, don't have sources, and are not suitable as reliable sources. I'm not convinced how these these low-quality links could ever be used as as a citation or source, (in any appropriate context).     Hi. I definitely see a lot of spam. Normally, we don't blacklist after just one spam warning. I've relisted at WikiProject Spam for monitoring. I've also given this IP a second warning.

    This is the second time I've had to blacklist one of this guy's websites. I already had gamerosters.com blacklisted a year ago, so if you can look at logs/archives somehow please check that out. But anyway, here's the deal:
    Brian Kaldenberg runs a website called GameRosters.com which sells custom rosters for video games like those in the NCAA Football series. He continuously spammed NCAA Football 08 with his gamerosters.com link, as you'll see if you can check the archives somehow. It might have been at a the meta spam list, though I don't really understand all this.
    Anyway, Mr. Kaldenberg has shown a complete disregard for Misplaced Pages rules on spamming, and has even sent my threatening messages via email, AIM and facebook.
    Now, a guy named Fairdale Kings used to run a website called fkrosters.com which provided rosters free of charge. It seems that Mr. Kaldenberg has bought out FK, as the fkrosters.com website is no nearly identical to www.gamerosters.com and has been re-designed by Mr. Kaldenberg's company, NimbleAd.com.
    However, it seems Mr. Kaldenberg has been careful to not put his name on the FK website, so as not to let FK's users know up front that FK is no longer running the website. Of course, the big difference is that he is no charging from that website.
    Anyway, on to the point. You can see that Mr. Kaldenberg has begun spamming the NCAA Football 09 article with his new fkrosters.com link. Here are some diffs:
    I think it's quite clearly a violation of WP:SPAM in a ton of different ways, from being a conflict of interest, to being a personal website, to trying to advertise and profit from having a link on Misplaced Pages. Mr. Kaldenberg has shown a complete disregard for Misplaced Pages policy in recent years, and though I doubt this will be the end of his problems here, this definitely needs to be done and will at least throw a wrench into his violations.►Chris Nelson 21:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

But I guarantee you there will be more, and considering I've already proven he is trying to promote his website for profit, I think there's no question it should be blacklisted.     ukmix.org/forums

    I'd like to add this forum to the blacklist for the same reason that worldwidealbums.tk and clickitaliansoftware.net was. There's no excuse for this to be used as a source for album sales and unfortunately many discographies seem to use it. If blacklisting is too much, perhaps this can be added to XLinkBot. Has also put out his shingle at talk pages: Talk:Shakti, Talk:Spiritual among others. A great deal of productive editor time would be saved by simply blacklisting.     dalianxpat.com, discoverdalian.com

    90% of this user's edit history shows that he is clearly intent on promoting only these two websites beginning with his very first edit. The user evens tries to create some dubious content just so he can ref link to those sites in order to make them look as if they are essential to the article. The user's reasoning is that they've been there for a couple of years so they have to stay there. Thanks. Hermant patel (talk) 10:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

    This is in two parts. These two links don't seem related, while i believe Kazkura's intrest is in discoverdalian.com (Adsense pub-3736550010943409). The reversions which included dalianxpat.com, perhaps were intended to hide/disguise that fact.

    had tampered with my userpage on the 9th of May - the same day I removed the spam on the Dalian page - probably to intimidate me, but hey I dont mind.     Spam from 79.19.209.27; This domain has been cross wiki spammed previously (87.19.217.191), and aded by 87.19.220.101 list; Several items on my watchlist were modified in quick succession by this user. I have reverted their contributions, and would like to know if this is sufficient for blacklisting, due to cross wiki spamming (see Alternate IP block.

    Talk:Combinatorics#External_link has some discussion re linkspam from this domain - way back in 2005 though.

    It looks like this domain was also added by the same accounts to the nl.wikipedia; this raises the question as to whether it should instead be blacklisted on the much more sweeping global blacklist which is where we list cross-wiki spam domains.     Addition to the COIBot reports

    The lower list in the COIBot reports now have after each link four numbers between brackets (e.g. "www.example.com (0, 0, 0, 0)"):

    1. first number, how many links did this user add (is the same after each link)
    2. second number, how many times did this link get added to wikipedia (for as far as the linkwatcher database goes back)
    3. third number, how many times did this user add this link
    4. fourth number, to how many different wikipedia did this user add this link.

    If the third number or the fourth number are high with respect to the first or the second, then that means that the user has at least a preference for using that link. Be careful with other statistics from these numbers (e.g. good user do add a lot of links). If there are more statistics that would be useful, please notify me, and I will have a look if I can get the info out of the database and report it. The bots are running on a new database, Eagle 101 is working on transferring the old data into this database so it becomes more reliable.

    Well, that isn't how it worked - the link in the article worked fine. It was only when added to the deletion template that it didn't show up at all - just the this link is blacklisted text. Well I haven't been to recreate the problem. Rmhermen (talk) 13:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
