Welcome to my talk page! Please be sure to make all posts civil and constructive, as I will ignore or revert anything I deem to be bad faith, dishonest, or vandalism. Also, let us try to keep two-way conversations readable. If you post to my talk page, I will just reply here. If I posted recently to another talk page, including your talk page, then that means I have it on my watchlist and will just read responses there. I may refactor discussions to your talk page for the same reason. Also, please do not refer to me here or elsewhere by my previous username as I changed names due to real-world off-wiki harassment that remains a concern. Due to the issues that caused my name change and other matters (such as the demands of college!) I may be slow in responding to messages and I may even stop editing for long stretches of time. To add to this article
I am not sure what was on the previous version of the article, but the following out of universe information can be added from "Resistance 2: Getting To Know Nathan Hale," PlayStation The Official Magazine 13 (November 2008): 62: the character is voiced by David Kaye. PTOM states that "The Resistance 2 story is all about Nathan Hale and his role in this great conflict." Ted Price, one of the game developers, adds, "Internally we wanted to know more about Hale, and focusing on him provided the opportunity to answer questions about him." Thus, I encourage someone to restore the article and add this information in a manner such as this:
Nathan Hale is the protagonist of the Playstation 3 games Resistance: Fall of Man and its sequel Resistance 2. He is voiced by David Kaye.
Development
Ted Price, one of the game developers, adds, "Internally we wanted to know more about Hale, and focusing on him provided the opportunity to answer questions about him."
Biography
Hale killed practically every chimera in England and then went to America to win again.
Reception
PTOM states that "The Resistance 2 story is all about Nathan Hale and his role in this great conflict." Playstation Universe lists Hale among the top five Playstation 3 characters thus far.

Restoration
Nathaniel is a character in Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. Nathaniel is one of the main characters of this series. After coming of age as a magician when he was 12 years old, he was granted the new name of John Mandrake, and is known by this name to everyone but the title character, Bartimaeus and in the later part of Ptolemy's Gate to Kitty.
Attributes
Appearance
In The Amulet of Samarkand he is described as being small and scrawny with dark hair. His hair, as he increases in rank, becomes increasingly long, but during the gap between The Golem's Eye and Ptolemy's Gate he has opted for a crew cut in (politically advantageous) tribute to the soldiers fighting in America. He is further described as attractive, with "the scent of power around him" and of medium height and slender build, his forehead prematurely lined (Ptolemy's Gate, U.S. Edition, pg. 21).
Personality
Nathaniel is, at first, a small, shy boy uncomfortable with anyone who is not Mrs. Underwood or Ms. Lutyens. He is very nervous and scared by Bartimaeus when he first summons the demon. As the books progress, and he becomes more and more proficient, he also becomes more confident, and possibly overconfident. He works fervently when motivated, as is shown when he furthers his education with incredible speed in The Amulet of Samarkand. Throughout the books he also shows signs of ambition to rise through the ranks of the government, a common goal among magicians. Bartimaeus compares him more than once to Simon Lovelace, as they share a similar mindset, and habitual tics, such as stroking back their hair.
Role in books
The Amulet of Samarkand
In The Amulet of Samarkand, Nathaniel starts off as a young boy who, at the age of five, had been given up by his parents to apprenticeship under a mediocre Whitehall magician named Arthur Underwood, the assistant minister of Internal Affairs. Underwood begins teaching the boy in magic, but Nathaniel, being inquisitive, decides to advance his education to higher levels without the knowledge of his tutor.
However, at the age of eleven, in his master's house, Nathaniel is publicly humiliated by a greedy and ambitious young magician named Simon Lovelace. In a fit of juvenile fury, Nathaniel hatches a plan for vengeance. He sets several mites (a weak kind of imp) on Lovelace, but Lovelace is powerful and stops the mites, then proceeds to beat Nathaniel as punishment.
Later, after much research and preparation, Nathaniel summons Bartimaeus, a 5,000-year-old djinni, to exact his revenge on Lovelace. Mrs. Underwood - Nathaniel's master's wife - inadvertently reveals Nathaniel's true name to Bartimaeus. This vastly limits Nathaniel's control over the djinni, because spells can be cast on people when their true name is known (hence the practice of assigning names).
In the end, Nathaniel earns the respect of the majority of the other magicians including Rupert Devereaux, the Prime Minister. He is accepted as a magician in the government.
The Golem's Eye
Nathaniel summons Bartimaeus again, facing off against the Resistance and sinister magicians.
The second book picks up almost three years later and features Nathaniel as a junior magician working his way up the government ranks. He is described as one of the governments' rising young stars. In this book, Kitty Jones is introduced as an important character. She is a part of the Resistance movement, which seeks to end the oppressive rule of the magicians. Nathaniel is tasked by his superiors to crush the Resistance movement and capture the members. His task is complicated when a seemingly invulnerable clay golem starts to make random attacks on London. Much to the displeasure of Bartimaeus, Nathaniel recalls the djinni to aid him in uncovering the origins of the golem, and to save his own skin.
During the course of the book Nathaniel is almost fired from his post and executed for treason. By the end of the book however he has come back to favor when Duvall's conspiracy comes to light.
Ptolemy's Gate
In Ptolemy's Gate, Nathaniel has risen to the ruling Council and is arguably the most powerful magician in the government. He stands against a force of hybrid magicians with spirits trapped inside them, led by Nouda. Romantic feelings are hinted at in the book at various points between Kitty and himself. Nathaniel summons Bartimaeus into his body to help fight the Hybrids with Gladstone's staff, and destroys most of them, leaving only Nouda alive. However, during this fight, Nathaniel is seriously injured and he loses strength quickly, even with Bartimaeus' assistance. When Nathaniel and Bartimaeus confront Nouda, Nathaniel dismisses Bartimaeus which saves Baritmaeus just prior to the staff being destroyed killing both Nouda and Nathaniel. Bartimaeus returned to the Other Place, but is known to have survived; according to his "journal", he was summoned by a female magician with a stutter afterwards. Kitty, in the end, goes visit her old friend Jakob before she begins to travel around the world in a new life.
Trivia
- Nathaniel's chosen magician name, John Mandrake, may be a reference to the popular comic strip and real life magician, Mandrake the Magician
- Nathaniel's birthday is on November 26, as confirmed by the author.

Hi
Just a note; please don't speedy your archives again, as ThumperWard would like to retain them for future use in some RfC. Thanks, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 08:51, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you prefer, I could move the pages into your user space. PhilKnight (talk) 12:28, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have no choice but to re-request that they be speedily deleted. The request to restore them is being made by a user with a history of hostility against me and serve no constructive end that could possibly trump not wanting my real world harassers to identify me by my old username. If that was not a concern, I would not have bothered to be renamed as something totally anonymous. Anything of value is still in my current talk page's edit history anyway. It is not right for someone who has acted aggresively against another user to make such requests as restoring stuff that was deleted due to real world concerns. I just want that user to leave me alone already. I have not commented in many deletion discussions since returning. And when I did I made my argument and leave or only reply to those who replied to me. Who replied to who as well as to others at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Blah (2nd nomination) or how about to multiple editors at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/List of SD Gundam G-Generation F mobile suits a discussion for an article I created nonetheless? That user left some bullying rant on my talk page that I'd rather not dignify suggesting that I made a personal attack by calling a nominator in AfD of an article disruptive. Well, laughing at someone else in a discussion is hardly productive/constructive. No reasonable editor could see anything even remote in my most recent AfD comments that could possibly justify an RfC. The only way someone would start such a thing based on these examples of my recent participation could only be doing so out of bias and to again in effect bully someone with whom they obviously disagree. And think about who is trying to make something out of nothing? In most of his recent AfD comments in the past couple of days, he has made four edits in the one for an article I created and made several critiquing me in another one. I didn't comment on his or anyone else's initial "vote." And then there's the talk page rant, and then there's these plastering of my old username on PhilKnight's talk page even though I explicitly state that I do not want my old name bandied about. As you can see if anything others including that individual are being far more confrontational, and disagreeing with someone's arguments is not cause to risk allowing for real world issues to be exacerbated. I would much rather this user just leave me alone already and just ignore me if he doesn't like my arguments. If I can do that, why can't he? If any of my arguments are weak, then let the closing admin decide, but we shouldn't bully people who disagree with us and arrogantly say that just because we disagree they must automatically be disruptive. I think doing incivil things like laughing at others is disruptive, but seriously, citing sources found on Google Books...? Please! As you can see above, I am not commenting on everybody's arguments I disagree with and I certainly am not threatening them with admin boards or making some big effort to restore anything from their userspace that was deleted due to real world harassment issues. I need those pages to remain deleted due to such concerns and no vendetta any individual has against me should possibly trump that. --Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, A Nobody 14:28, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- It is a generally accepted rule of thumb that any editor—just as he may decline to use archives for removed user_talk page content—may request the deletion of any or all of his archives. I have, on that basis, deleted both of A Nobody's archives. If the deleted content of those archives is required at a later date by another editor for the purposes of a Requests for Comment, especially where such an RfC is warranted and would not serve primarily to disrupt or upset (but rather to benefit the project), I would invite them to message my talk page and I will consider making the content available to them. Suggestion
You've brought an issue to various people's attention. Don't over do it. Let's see what happens. It sounds to me like Protonk, among others, would be willing to merge the relevant histories if the article is deleted. That still may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but I don't think it's worth getting worked up over. Have patience and hope for the best. It's only one article and you don't want to create any unnecessary animosity. ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:53, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, fair enough and thanks for the suggestion. By the way, they did apparently make a toy of the character as well, but I've said what I wanted to say and really do need to be focusing on school work anyway. I just hope everyone will be reasonable and all. Take care! Sincerely, --A Nobody 03:54, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Question
Could you please redirect or would you be okay with redirects of Debt (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Haunted (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) to Law_&_Order:_Special_Victims_Unit_(season_6)#Episodes? It didn't appear that anyone in the discussion would have opposed a redirect to there. Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 01:52, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I would have no objection to that; if you wish to merge any of the content then let me know and I will restore the history under a redirect. Stifle (talk) 09:20, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Clarification
Yes, you are right. I really enjoyed the films but I guess I tend to forget names. When I realised that he is the father of the two evil protagonists I changed by opinion. Why there isn't any List of characters available? I think it would be much better. -- Magioladitis (talk) 02:35, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I would not be opposed to a list of characters instead for some of the secondary characters and I would certainly be willing to help edit it. I would say that Selene (Underworld) as the main character in the first two films and one of two selectable characters in the video game merits her own article. Raze (Underworld) is also notable as one of two playable characters in the video game and I was able to start a reception section on him (see Raze_(Underworld)#Reception). I think that Michael Corvin is also worthy of an article as I was able to start a Michael_Corvin#Production and Michael_Corvin#Reception section for him. Also, please note that they made action figures of Michael, Raze, Viktor, Lucian, and Selene. The protagonist of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans may also be worthy of an article too depending on what kind of coverage is in reviews and interviews associated with that film's release. Now for the other characters who are not the protagonists of either the films or games and thus for whom production and reception sections would be more difficult to start, a character list would probably be an appropriate compromise that I would be willing to support. I really think that we all need to come up with some kind of compromises with the fictional character ones that everyone should be able to live with. I can usually find sources if they exist so my feeling is if I can at least start a development and reception section using Google News and Google Books results then the article has potential and should be kept; if I can verify the information, but not do much beyond just confirming the character appeared in whatever film or game or who portrayed the character, then a merge and redirect is the way to go; and finally if even I cannot add one source to the article then deletion or redirecting would be appropriate. I am, however, generally only going to comment in the ones where I am really confident the article has enough potential that it really should not be outright deleted. But I think these standards are reaonable? What do you think? Best, --A Nobody 02:46, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think that with the elements you describe one of the best list of articles can be described. I think we should include there Lucian, Viktor, Sonja, Markus Corvinus, Kraven, Alexander Corvinus, William Corvinus, Raze. We can have a list of characters with many references, real world information (like a section called "Action figures", etc.) and with short character's profiles instead of exhaustive plot descriptions. If can find enough sources for Michael Corvin, it can be a separate article, but I am not sure yet. Selene is the main character but the article is very weak. Why really? If you are willing to start this article, I can help as well and write this in the AfD. I can't do it alone. In fact if wouldn't have noticed that Underworld characters were send to AfD, if I was not going to fix the infoboxes. -- Magioladitis (talk) 10:40, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I would of course be willing to help work on such a list and to continue to do what I can with any articles for Selene or any other characters who may be worthy of their own article. We could rank the characters by degrees of notablility for determing the list's organization:
- Characters who appeared in all three films and thus all three novelizations/graphic novelizations of the films.
- Characters who appeared in two of the films and novelizations.
- Characters who appeared in one film and novelization.
- Characters who had an action figure made of him/her (Lucian, Michael, Raze, Selene, and Viktor).
- Characters who were playable characters in the video game (Raze and Selene).
- Characters who were non-playable characters in the game.
- Characters who appeared in all three films and thus all three novelizations/graphic novelizations of the films.
- Those with multiple or starring appearances in different media can be considered main characters and those who are important to the stories, but haven't had multiple appearances secondary characters. Given our discussion here, do you think it would be worth trying to see if TTN and Thumperward would allow us to take this route as a compromise and thus withdraw the two active discussions so we can proceed? Best, --A Nobody 15:42, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I think we can start by creating the article including the important information found. Even if articles get deleted, which I doubt, I still have access to the code, since I am an admin. As you may know, I am usually pro of deleting unreferenced articles for fictional characters but in this case we have 3 films, novels, a video game and action figures. A lot and good material. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:12, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Cool and I am happy that even though you and I are probably more often than not in disagreement about these fictional character articles (I usually favor keeping in some capacity) that we are able to work together here. On a side note, for the next ten days or so my on-wiki time will be incredibly limited due to final exam week. Sincerely, --A Nobody 15:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Take your time. We have access to the material so we can create a good article and nothing will be lost. Good luck with your exams, they are far more important for you right now. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:54, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, when I do have time, should I start the list in my userspace first or just begin it in the mainspace? Best, --A Nobody 15:54, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Start it in your userpage in order to avoid any tagging and as soon as we have something good to show we can put it in a new article and people can contribute on it. Cheers. Magioladitis (talk) 16:09, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, please see User:A Nobody/Underworld characters (I figure it's Saturday, I need a break from school...). Best, --A Nobody 16:28, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

How is the rescue coming along? - Mgm| 09:37, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, but I would like to see if we can get a "reception" section in there as well. Best, --A Nobody 18:00, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Good news and bad news
Hiya, good news first. I've been busy on the biography of Screamin' Jay Hawkins, which had been unreferenced. The research is getting more interesting as I go. Perhaps it could reach GA with a collaborator if it interests you?
Bad news is the AFD stuff. I've gone on record stating I'd endorse a conduct RFC, and the only reason one hadn't started since your return is that you'd stayed away from that area. Now that you're back to AFD I'll be on my honor to certify RFC if someone starts one. You deserve to know this in advance. I like you and want to see you succeed as an editor. There's history here, though. And there's some problems with that history. You know I've come down on deletionists when they've gamed site standards. Including admins.
Friend, I'd rather see you collecting GA credits on popular culture than running into trouble. This site has plenty of unreferenced articles in that area that could go to GA or even FA. In the big picture, wouldn't it do more credit to your convictions about what Misplaced Pages should be to see Hawkins on the main page as the day's featured article? Without Hawkins we might never have had Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, and Marilyn Manson. Misplaced Pages's main page gets an average of 5 million page views each day. Think about that.

- Here is a list of all the resolved/closed AfD's I have participated in since username change in reverse chronological order:
- Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/The_Coltons (I argued to keep and made some improvements to the article; article was kept and now we have a better article thanks to my efforts)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/The_Suburbs_(web_series) (I argued to weak keep due to another editor's improvement efforts, i.e. to praise a fellow editor; article was kept)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/WoodyRimShot (I actually argued to delete this one and it was indeed deleted)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/Upstairs_at_The_Gatehouse (I again argued to keep in support of a fellow editor's efforts and the results was a "speedy keep)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/Blah_(2nd_nomination) (I argued to keep and the article was yet again not deleted as the discussion closed as "no consensus")
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/List of problems solved by MacGyver (3rd nomination) (I argued to keep and although the article was initially deleted after a proactive and productive discussion with the deleting admin, he restored the article and allowed me to merge content to the main article on the series; our efforts were upheld at Deletion Review)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/List of SD Gundam G-Generation F mobile suits (I argued to keep, merge, or redirect this article that I created; the article closed as a redirect with the edit history intact)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Isla Sorna (3rd nomination) (I argued to keep this article that I had argued to keep at length in its previous nomination and once gain greatly improved the referencing and out of universe content of the article; the result was "no consensus")
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Isla Nublar (3rd nomination) (again, an article I defended in a previous nomination that I once again argued to keep and once again improved as well that was kept in the end)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/The_Well_(church) (another instance of arguing to keep as a means of being friendly to a fellow article rescuer; article was indeed kept)
- You will see in the above that I only replied to those who responded to me, rather than to everyone who disagreed with me and you will also see that all of the results were ones that were acceptable to me and more or less in line with what I was arguing. Even in the MacGyver case, the merge work that I did was in agreement with the closer and then upheld at Deletion Review. And as you can see in the above thread, even with someone who is usually more deletionist, I am finding ways to compromise and work together to improve our project. I have essentially changed my approach to these discussions and by and large since doing so the results have been very positive for our project. I cannot imagine anyone having objective issues with the above and the truth is that I am resisting commenting in a great many discussions I really want to comment in just to avoid stirring anything up. Rather I am focusing on commenting only in ones that would not be controversial (such as arguing to delete, which no one ever took issue with), ones that I created (as Chaser okayed my doing), ones that I previously defended at considerable length, or ones that I personally believe I can really improve. I could probably list over a hundred since my return that I seriously wanted to add my two cents to, but decided I best just sit it out. In any event, I would of course be happy to work with you on bringing articles to good or featured status; however, as I posted above, this coming week is finals week and so I will not be on much if at all for the next 7 to 10 days (why I had a long stretch between yesterday and today's edits as well). Sincerely, --A Nobody 16:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I wish to withdraw and archive the following thread that I started at Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Not_properly_attributing_contributions_in_merge_edit_summaries so that I can discuss with the editor in question instead at Help_talk:Merging_and_moving_pages#Merge_edit_summaries. Thus, as I am not asking for administrator intervention for now, the thread I started serves no relevant purpose there anymore. Anyway, I am not sure how to archive, mark as resolved in such instances. Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 05:14, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
