The Alabama–LSU rivalry is an annual college football rivalry between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Louisiana State University Tigers, both of which have competed in the Southeastern Conference Western Division since the 1992 season.

History

Starting in 1902, the Tigers were victorious 11–0 in the first meeting in Template:City-state. The teams did not regularly meet until the mid-1960s, during Alabama's dominance of the SEC. Between 1971–1981, the Crimson Tide won eleven consecutive times. In the 1969 meeting, LSU defeated Alabama with a 20–15 scoreline in Template:City-state—the Tigers would not win in Louisiana again until 2000. From 1971 to 1998, Alabama did not lose a game in Baton Rouge, winning 14 of 15 games. However, LSU has not lost a game in Tuscaloosa during the current decade, winning the last 4 meetings.

In 2007, the meeting was more heated following Alabama's hiring of head coach Nick Saban—who previously coached at LSU. With the hiring, many media outlets dubbed the 2007 meeting as the "Saban Bowl". With a late turnover, the Tigers beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, 41–34.

In their most recent matchup, Alabama snapped their five game drought against the Tigers with a 27–21 overtime victory due to a late turnover. Despite the recent success of LSU, the Crimson Tide still leads the head-to-head series at 44–23–5.
