Ryan Martinie (aka "Ryknow" or "R-ud") is the bass guitarist in the Alternative Metal band Mudvayne. He is within a beholder's eye of one of the elite of bassists in the math metal genre. He is ideally known for his jazz influenced slap bass technique, as well as using a myriad of other bass techniques. He has also pioneered a new technique, using his double-jointed fingers to create a "semi-pop" sound. He also has extended bass solos at some Mudvayne concerts.
Ryan plays on Warwick "Thumb" 5-string basses (strung with DR strings), which he runs through Ampeg amps.
Ryan is thought to be one of the greatest bassists of all time. All of his songs are like unbelievable solos, but that make perfect sense with the guitar and drums. He has such an extensive knowledge of unusual time signatures, harmonies, and slap and pop that enables his riffs to be extremely introcate at complicated. He great as well because of the fact that he meets his full potential, his amazing bass lines show how ridiculous he really is.
