Julian Sands was born in Otley, Yorkshire on 4 January, 1957. He has been in films such as The Killing Fields, A Room with a View, Gothic, Warlock, Arachnophobia, and Boxing Helena.

He has been twice married, first to the journalist Sarah Sands (they divorced in 1987 in a marriage yielding one son, Henry Sands, who was born in London 20 September 1985, educated at Millfield school, spent a year after school doing officer training at Sandhurst then commissioned into the Irish Guard, and is as of 2005 at Edinburgh University studying History, and secondly to the writer Evgenia Citkowitz in 1990.
