The General David Humphreys House, located at 37 Elm St., Ansonia, Connecticut, was built in 1695 and is the birthplace of the Revolutionary War officer David Humphreys. Humphreys was a friend of George Washington and later became the first ambassador of the United States to a foreign country. The historic house museum has been restored to a mid 18th century appearance, and serves as the headquarters for the Derby Historical Society.
