Blakely was born in Germany the daughter of a career Army officer. She first came to Hollywood in the early 1970s as a highly paid fashion model and then branched off into acting. Blakely has never given a bad performance in her career and first came to prominence with her role in the classic disaster movie The Towering Inferno. Blakely's best performance was in the 1980 television film A Cry For Love where she gave an outstanding performance as a drug addict.
