Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Buoyancy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, History of vandalism from IPs - obviously a popular target for schoolkids. RexxS (talk) 19:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Declined, Not really seeing a regular pattern of vandalism. Rjd0060 (talk) 20:09, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Of the last 50 edits, 20 were vandalism by IP editors, and the majority of the remaining edits were rectification of the vandalism. It's the same story looking further back in edit history. The only constructive edit by an IP was to move a refimprove tag from the bottom of the page to the top. If that's not a "regular pattern of vandalism", what is? --RexxS (talk) 23:32, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
There is not a significant amount of recent disruption. There are a few disruptive edits from today and then nothing for weeks. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

    Misplaced Pages:Naming conflict (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Indefinite full protection User PManderson and some others have been consistently making substantial alterations to the longstanding text of this important naming guidance having failed to gain consensus for such changes, and in spite of repeated requests to desist. The text as restored by me, which represents the long-standing guidance that has existed in essence since 2005 needs to protected until the matter is settled or a consensus exists for significant change. This request is urgent since the guidance is referred to across wikipedia's articles. Xandar 19:27, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

To state another point of view, Xandar has made three exact reversions, despite a promising start at negotiating a guideline which everybody else actually likes. As many editors object to Xandar's text as support it, so there is no consensus, just Xandar's revert war - and a new text appears to have drawn no other objection. Protection seems warranted, however. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 19:43, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
The text is not "my text", but the long-term consensus text dating back to 2005 - as can be easily verified. Nor do most editors support a change. In the absence of consensus PManderson and others have no right to fundamentally alter this Naming convention on their own authority. Xandar 20:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
See; it is this attitude which is why the page needs protection: only Xandar can change it, even if there is no longer consensus for it. And he will revert war as necessary. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:24, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't want to change it. I would just like to preserve it the way it has been for most of the past 4 years until any change is properly agreed by the community. Xandar 21:36, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Hence your revert war, which, together with your yelling in FULL CAPS, has managed to derail a rather productive discussion. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:46, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Fully protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:55, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

At That Point (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection Indef. IP vandalism, this album is subject to much IP abuse involving the adding of unsourced songs and producers/credits. Just a few days ago a whole new section was added with confirmed vs recorded tracks. Despite there being a hidden not which clearly states that songs recorded for an album need a source the album page does keep getting abused with leaked/rumoured songs. Please protect until October 20, 2009 when the album is scheduled for release. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 15:49, 20 August 2009 (UTC))

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The article has only been edited by two IPs in the past two days. — Kralizec! (talk) 21:45, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

National Federation of Republican Assemblies (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection vandalism, continued vandalism (see history and mediation cabal). CorpITGuy (talk) 11:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

CorpITGuy has repeatedly gamed the system by vandalizing my talk page, misrepresenting a content dispute as vandalism, misrepresenting the mediation process, and in general refusing to respect Misplaced Pages rules and conventions. I hope that any administrators who look at this page will actually take the trouble to figure out what's going on before taking action.--68.46.254.47 (talk) 19:34, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
What a remarkable coincidence! Wow, how EXTRAORDINARILY coincidental that a new SPA has just been created to serve as CorpITGuy's proxy, eliminating any criticism of him on his talk page, and participating in his edit wars so that he will not technically be guilty of 3RR! What a remarkable, statistically unlikely coincidence!----68.46.254.47 (talk) 21:57, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

    Brian May (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection Recently, in this article a lot of test and spam edits (can be regarded as vandalism). I think so one week semi-protection will be helpful. P.S. Sorry for bad English.--Ole Førsten (talk) 10:59, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The article has only had two edits that needed reverting in the past four days. — Kralizec! (talk) 21:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People In A Mercedes (poem) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I'm currrently working on the article AQA Anthology and would like to request that Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People In A Mercedes (poem) is unblocked so I can create an article. Francium12 (talk) 10:36, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Not unprotected – Please create a sourced version of this article in a subpage or your userspace. When this is done, please make the request again, or ask any administrator to move the page for you. Rjd0060 (talk) 20:11, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Meh. User:Francium12/Sandbox3. Copyright violations were nothing to do with me and the orginal protection was an overreaction. Francium12 (talk) 21:18, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi protection against constant IP vandalism, from supporters of his former club who seem to have a diskike to this fellow. The majority of vandalism is personal & offensive (i.e. recently he has been called "pikey" and "fat" etc). Thanks, GiantSnowman 12:36, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

    Nandamuri Balakrishna (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection. This BLP is persistently edited by unregistered IP addresses which add POV material including adding a "Filmography" table which took up half the page and caused terrible horizontal scrolling issues, as well as a "Comments" section which gave unsourced POV judgements about each of his films, including terms like "flop" and "SUPER HIT". I removed most of this in this edit but I fully expect it to all be added again soon enough, given that I had fixed this article before in January. (All 14 intermediate revisions were my edits), and lo-and-behold, 8 months later, all that crap is back. GSMR (talk) 17:40, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection (maybe two weeks?) Ongoing homophobic anon vandalism including images and redirects. It's nonsense and quickly gets reverted but the history is now filled with this and makes finding actual helpful contributions harder to sort out. It's more annoying that anything else. Quite likely it is one vandal/group of vandals operating with a dynamic IP. It may just post-pone the nonsense or move them to another article, who knows? -- Banjeboi 11:25, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
