Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Temporary full protection dispute, WP:BLP violation editwarring, accusations of vandalism, etc. Verbal chat 22:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Fully protected - I have protected this indef, meaning until the dispute is resolved. Kevin (talk) 23:06, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Austin St. John (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection vandalism, Article never (I don't say this lightly) has constructive edits. Numerous libelous BLP IP edits all the time (plus some more mundane ones). Lots of inserting that he is a gay porn star (for months). At one point a concerted effort of uploading a picture of similar-looking gay porn star to Commons and repeatedly inserting it into this article from numerous IPs. Basically, just a BLP mess.... Peace and Passion ☮  ("I'm listening....") 21:05, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

PS It's probably only because this guy was the red Power Ranger...; high risk BLP subject?

Semi-protect, 48 hours — Recent rash of vandalism regarding some (as yet unsourced) comment regarding Poland and the Holocaust. Seeking protection until this situation has cooled off (~48hrs). DKqwerty (talk) 21:04, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 48 hours, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. — Kralizec! (talk) 21:29, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Miss International 2009 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect since now to after November 28, 2009 (the grand final night of that pageant). Avoid vandalism, unsourced or nationalist entries from anonymous IP editors. Thanks. Angelo De La Paz (talk) 20:23, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Marietta College‎ (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection requested. I requested semi-protection a few days ago but instead the article was fully protected. The protection has expired and the anonymous editors have continued to edit war. --ElKevbo (talk) 19:32, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Fully protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. This seems to be a genuine content dispute, ElKevbo, rather than anon vandalism, so I've fully protected so as not to exclude the anon unfairly. If I've misread the edits, though, please let me know. Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Everybody in Love (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

As requested when my nomination for the article Everybody in Love to be unlocked was declined, a subpage with reliable sources has been created here. Therefore I believe the article now passes WP:NSONGS so could the article now be moved to Everybody in Love.RM-Taylor (talk) 12:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Unprotected Unprotected, deleted the redir, and moved article in place. tedder (talk) 14:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Jon & Kate Plus 8 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I made this request to unprotect the above page yesterday and it was suggested that I contact the protecting admin (in this case it's User:Cirt) first. I contacted Cirt with a copy of my original request which I followed up with proof of resolution of the edit conflict between the two conflicting editors. Cirt has asked that I re-post my request here so that it may be reviewed by another admin to whom he would defer judgement. I feel no further edit warring is imminent as the two conflicting editors have come to an agreement at their own talk pages. Big Bird (talkcontribs) 18:09, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Unprotected I'm really impressed with everyone involved here; this was a very well-handled case. I'll unprotect the page since there's no more conflict. Great job, again! Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 20:08, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Joe Wilson (U.S. politician) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Because this page is about a living person, and the controversy over the edits is about bias, I would like this page to be unprotected or monitored closely for edit requests. I agree with the decision to protect the page in principle because of the constant fighting, but since we have an opportunity to create consensus under the eye of an administrator while the page is locked we should use it in an expedited fashion. Otherwise the edit warring would be better in that at least both biased points of view will be seen on the page (albeit in an unsatisfactory way).Onefinalstep (talk) 20:52, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Add document page for writing template usage instruction and move all noinclude text/syntax into the doc. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 05:04, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'd be happy to do this for you, but could you please prepare the documentation page so I can move it over? This will speed up the process, and avoid possible errors. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 19:42, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the doc page is ready. Thx. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 00:22, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Continued repeated vandalism of the WGGH page. User is using different IPs to vandalize the article. User has been repeatedly warned, but warnings are falling on deaf ears. Requesting protection of the page. NeutralHomerTalk05:43, 7 October 2009 (UTC) 05:43, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Declined The majority of the vandalism is from one IP, 75.170.195.109 (talk · contribs). This IP has not been warned. Can you send some warnings their way and watch for further damage? I have a feeling the article wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for that IP. If I'm wrong, yes, semi-protection would be a good way to go. tedder (talk) 07:03, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Semi-protection, persistent IP introduction of unsourced changes to performance specifications despite warnings to IP users and inline comment requesting adherence to WP:RELIABLE. -- Brianhe (talk) 03:00, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. There's only been a few edits to the article at all in the past week (or past month, for that matter). Might want to nudge fellow WP:MOTO member User:Dbratland and ask him to add it to his watchlist. tedder (talk) 06:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Sullivan's Island, South Carolina (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection, I just reverted a weeks worth of persistent anonymous IP vandalism to that article. --TommyBoy (talk) 02:41, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Probably a good candidate for Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Watch-A-Page, if such a thing existed, but it was mostly the doing of one IP and hasn't been a persistent target. Use the user warning messages if it keeps happening. tedder (talk) 06:18, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

    Rajput (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotect. Semiprotected May, 2008, due to "edit warring anon". I started a review October 12, notifying the admin. There has been no response, for or against, and the protecting admin is not presently active. I think it's worth a try and I'll be watching the article. --TS 06:28, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Question: Did you use the time machine or what? (i.e., when did you start the review?) I'm fine unprotecting it, I'd just like clarification on the date first. tedder (talk) 06:45, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
