Üter is a fictional German foreign exchange student in the TV series The Simpsons, with odd habits such as offering his already-licked lollipops to others as a sign of friendship, and eating marzipan candies fortified with iodine. He disappeared for a period of time after the Civil War field trip; when the people running the reenactment that they visited noticed that the students had sneaked in and gave chase. Üter was left behind to be clubbed with the butts of the faux rifles that the men reenacting the Civil War were wielding. Although a joke was made of this event in a later episode, with Üter's parents asking Skinner where their missing son was (Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner), in the same episode Skinner denied any knowledge of Üter. He has since reappeared, alive and plump. He was killed in a Tree House of Horror when the teachers become cannibals. They call the dish Üterbroten.

In the dubbed German version of the show Üter is Swiss and not German; for the German audience Üter's Lederhosen and his frequent references to chocolate fit more to stereotypes the Germans connect to the Swiss and not themselves, although for most non-Germans the character fits well to popular clichés about the Germans.
