2008 NBA Draft - "Notable Undrafted"
Hey- Not interested in getting into an edit war, but this section exists on most of the other NBA Draft pages. It also isn't actually subjective since it denotes that those listed earned a "full year contract during the following season." Just trying to make the page consistent with previous years. Quadruple-double
Excellent revision to the Quadruple-double article. I was just thinking how much better the near misses would look as a table, and you made the changes before I got a chance to. Nicely done! —C.Fred (talk) 02:34, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Quintuple-double
No problem. I was so astonished that someone had actually completed a quintuple-double, especially on the collegiate level, that I was intrigued enough to read the story (good thing I did, I suppose). But don't worry about it, anyone who contributes regularly to Misplaced Pages like you and me will inevitably breeze through a source without studying it carefully and then screw up a fact or two. Great job on the Double (basketball) page though, it looks amazing. Jrcla2 21:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

TV Interview
Dear Chrishomingtang,
I am trying to locate contributors to Misplaced Pages who live in San Francisco and might be available for an on-camera TV interview next Thursday (6/25) about Misplaced Pages and what motivates you to contribute to Misplaced Pages. If you are interested please let me know. I am also looking for other Misplaced Pages contributors in San Francisco who would potentially be interested in doing this if you have any suggestions.
Thanks.

Whitespace removal too excessive
Hello, what is the purpose of your whitespace removal edits? I feel they go too far, especially with wikitable markup. Many editors find it much clearer to work with table data when elements are delimited by some whitespace:
| label || 431 || 562 || 43 || 6654 || 45
Of course, this is equivalent to
|label||431||562||43||6654||45
but I think the former is much easier to read in the edit window than the latter, as the table cell data stands out better. I think your script should be less aggressive with spaces inside table markup. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 20:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry if I cause any problem. The script is not mine, so I don't know how to make it not to fix whitespace within tables. I will stop using it if it causes so much problems. Thanks for letting me know.—Chris! ct 21:08, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, no worries! Who should I talk to about the script? — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 19:52, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- The script name is User:Plastikspork/monobook.js/script.js, so I guessed User:Plastikspork is the person you should talk to.—Chris! ct 20:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. I have been slowly merging this script with WP:AutoEd, and there has been some discussion there about a more fine-grained approach to whitespace removal. We are working on it. It should be the case that the 'Sprk: WS' button is the only button that removes whitespace. Let me know if that is not the case. I will work on making the 'Sprk: WS' button a bit less aggressive. If you could show me an offensive diff I can target your specific case. Thanks again. Plastikspork (talk) 17:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Great, thanks! The edit that caught my watchlist was this one (later reverted by another editor for the same concerns I had, as it turns out). The whitespace removal from the wikitable (starting at line 26 in the diff) is what I disagree with, as I think wikitable markup looks better with a single space on one or both sides of the "||" cell separator. It might be useful for your script to collapse 2+ spaces down to a single space within wikitables, but I wouldn't touch the instances of single spacing. Thanks for your consideration — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 17:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

- With regards to the Walter A. Brown trophy, that article seems to include everything that is available on the free web. Re: Walter A. Brown Trophy
That's a shame (and somewhat surprising!), but it shouldn't be effected. Articles do from time to time disappear from topics due to merging. It would be nice if you could keep the information that IS in the article somewhere in the topic, but go ahead and merge away - rst20xx (talk) 22:35, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
List of defunct National Basketball Association teams
I told you on the edit summary to ask me on my talk page instead of reverting...anyways, I've since seen a table where when you put your mouse over the column heading, and it tells you when the column heading means. It looks like ie. "ColumnHeading?", with the question mark more down and smaller. I can't find how to do this on Help:Tables or Help:Sorting. This is so that we can make the columns thinner without using a key. Just look at "Seasons played" and "Playoff appearances". Don't you agree it needs the formatting mentioned above? -- ] 01:21, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

- I'll ask someone else then...but don't you agree with me that the "Seasons played" and "Playoff appearances" column are way too wide? -- ] 01:43, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well, yes. But that is not an issue at all, in my opinion, since it doesn't affect the table much.—Chris! ct 01:49, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ehh...I'm probably a reviewer will mention about the wide width span. Also, I did some research on whether of not the Baltimore Bullets played in the 1954–55 NBA season, which they had. This is indicated on NBA.com's History section here. Basketball-Reference has a mistake, as it doesn't show that the Bullets had played in that season. I'm telling you just in case you revert you. :D -- ] 01:51, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

- I never replied saying that it was a "problem", I just thought it was too wide, which is an opinion (sorry if I'm being too political). Doesn't say anything about width problem on tables on WP:MOS, so ehh... -- ] 02:12, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Walter A Brown trophy again
Hi there. Just thought i would follow up on this. Is the plan to merge this article into another? I ask because it is still listed in the GAN list (without a review / on hold tag either), and wasn't sure what you and the reviewer want to do. If you are defintely going to merge, I would ask the main reviewer to close the review and delete it from the GAN list. If not, maybe ask the reviewer to tag it as "on hold" in the GAN list. As you know, I favour merge. hamiltonstone (talk) 00:01, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think that the original reviewer forgot to note on GAN that this article is on hold. And yes, I will merge. The reason I didn't is because I am waiting for the original reviewer to reply.—Chris! ct 00:51, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Listed buildings in Widnes
Hi, I moved the above article back to its current title after you moved it. You're correct that the convention for naming lists is usually to start with "list of...", however consensus has recently been reached to omit this prefix when creating lists of listed buildings. This is due to the repetition in the title. At the moment, naming is a bit inconsistent as I've not had as much time as I hoped to start the moves, but will get round to the soon. Happy editing, Nev1 (talk) 18:56, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, as you know Chris I'm usually a stickler for this, but have agreed that "List of listed" is clunky, so I think the "List of" can be dropped in those articles. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

- No thanks. After going through RFA once, I realized that I don't really want to be an admin. But maybe in the future, I will change my mind. I don't know.—Chris! ct 22:20, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Looking through your edits and that RfA, you have improved a lot, and I think you would stand a good chance at RfA, with the caveat that I know nothing about what is needed and not needed to pass one these days. That said, I can understand if you don't want to go through the hell that RfA can be (it doesn't look enjoyable to me either). Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 01:00, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- RfA is only hell to those who don't stand a chance in passing. You have a very good chance, IMO. I think you're ready. :) iMatthew at 00:49, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

List of defunct National Basketball Association teams FLC
I'm lurking, studying how FLC works for an upcoming candidate that I've helped with. Since someone suggested that you have a picture, notice that I have taken a picture of the stadium that the Sheboygan Red Skins used - it still exists. I understand if you feel it's too far off-topic, so I'll leave it up to you to decide if it belongs. My feelings won't be hurt if you don't use it - I've uploaded well over 1000 images here. Rondo
I can take a look. Any particular reason why? Zagalejo^^^ 05:20, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- To be honest, I don't think the current structure of the article (one big section per season) is going to work out in the long run. Unless Rondo's career abruptly comes to an end sometime soon, the article is going to be HUGE in a few years.
- I can read through the article to look for obvious problems, but I'd advise against a GA nom at this point. Indeed, I think it's a lot easier to get an athlete's bio to GA or FA status when that athlete has already retired, because at that point, it's much easier to figure out which events in the athlete's career are truly worth mentioning. Hi, I undid your edit to List of counties in Missouri, which replaced all of the dashes between birth and death dates from "–" to a simple "–". If you take a look at MOS:DOB, "–" is the format used there. Also look at any other featured list of "List of Counties in X", (Most recently, List of counties in Alabama). Let me know if you have any concerns. JUJUTACULAR | TALK 15:31, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, they are the same. – is the html code for –.—Chris!c/t 19:01, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Is there a benefit to using the html code versus the character itself? I don't see why the html is being used everywhere I see, when just typing the character would be much easier. JUJUTACULAR | TALK 21:18, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, you can't type endash because it is not on the keyboard. (What you see on the keyboard is a hyphen) So, people type the html code instead. The only advantage of replacing html code is to reduce the number of characters in a page: – takes 7 characters rather than 1 character. But this is negligible, so it isn't a big deal. For more info, see WP:DASH.—Chris!c/t 21:31, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey, when you get the time, can you add sortability to the table? That's the only thing holding back my support. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 00:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Done.—Chris!c/t 00:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Not quite, the "Era names..." and "Posthumous names..." columns probably shouldn't be sortable. Also, the "Period of reigns " column doesn't sort correctly, and are your sure that "Birth names" doesn't need sortname? Finally, the second table needs to be sortable too. Dabomb87 (talk) 01:06, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Um, the table format is in html, so right now I am not sure how to make that happen. Let me play with this. And no, birth name doesn't need sortname b/c Chinese names are last name first and first name last.—Chris!c/t 01:13, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Oakland City Hall

Re:List of tallest buildings in Oakland, California
Hi Chris, the lists looks good! But I think there are still some issues that need to be addressed - the current FL redlink criterion, for example, requires "a minimal proportion of redlinks", generally less than 10%. The less notable buildings can simply be delinked, but I would think that at least the taller buildings without articles and the historic ones (like Bank of America Building (Oakland)) should have their own articles. All columns except for building name and notes need to centered for every table, and coordinates need to be added for all completed and under construction buildings. There also seems to be a new requirement for an "image column" at FLC. And one more thing, the height column should be reformatted at ft (m)
in place of ft / m
- the dashed method was dropped awhile back, but several older lists still need to be fixed. You can see recently promoted lists like List of tallest buildings in Mobile, List of tallest buildings in San Diego and List of tallest buildings in Singapore as examples. Let me know if I can help at all. Good luck with the list at FLC! Cheers, Rai•me 15:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. These are all good suggestions. Though, I doubt that the image column is beneficial since a vast majority of the buildings has no image.—Chris!c/t 18:50, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Re:List of tallest buildings in San Jose, California
Both Emporis and SkyscraperPage are reliable sources and preferably all buildings should be cited to both websites. They do sometimes contradict, and in the past the convention has been to use the source that has a height figure that is supported by the building's architect or developer, or another third-party architecture site like Structurae or the CTBUH. Buildings without heights on those two websites should still be included - you should try and find their heights from another website (and if necessary from the building's website or owner). Possible TyrusThomas4lyf heads-up
Just a general heads-up on some possible TyrusThomas4lyf activity. 75.22.238.193 (talk · contribs · logs) and 99.145.211.131 (talk · contribs · logs) have made edits that exhibit some characteristics of TyrusThomas4lyf's historical editing patterns, and both IPs originate from the Chicago, Illinois area. So far, the edits are not harmful. But if this is genuine TyrusThomas4lyf sock-activity, there's a good chance that this will quickly transition into edit warring that will require admin intervention.
