Signatures
How do you make a signature? Inka 888 (talk) 16:37, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
- It requires a bit of HTML. See WP:CUSTOMSIG. —La Pianista 21:56, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also, please sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~). This way, we can easily see who wrote the post and when it was made. —La Pianista 21:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
How do you customize your signature?
- Misplaced Pages:Tip of the day/December 5, 2007. Instead of messing with your signature, please consider writing an article and actually contributing the content of this encyclopedia. Thank you, —fetch·comms 20:53, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you read the link, you'll see your question answered so read the link like you're supposed to instead of blindly accusing me of telling you what's best for the project. —fetch·comms 21:04, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
i still do not understand how to make a customized signature if someone could tell me that would be wonderful. inka 888 (talk) 03:24, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, what kind of customized signature are you looking for? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:34, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
one that has color and is written in cool text. inka 888 (talk) 03:36, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, first you gotta figure out what you like (my crystal ball is broken) and then let me know in what colors you want it in and I can take it from there. I recommend you come up with something original, but if you want to copy from someone else, I recommend changing the colors up a bit. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:40, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also La Pianista and Fetchcomms have some good advice above too. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:41, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Good signature, but took similar in color. How about blue and black? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:49, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also La Pianista and Fetchcomms have some good advice above too. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:41, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK, here is what you do, you take the following code...
- <font color="#228b22">]</font> <font color="#000000">]</font>
- ...copy/paste it as is and click on "My Preferences" at the top. In the "Signature" field, put the code in there, click "Save" at the very bottom. Sign with the four tidles ~~~~ and go from there. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:59, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- I seen your most recent use of the new signature. You must put in all of the coding, with the exception of the "nowiki" tags, else it will not work. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:12, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
That is because part of the code is missing, you must add the entire code with the exception of the nowiki tags. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:18, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- <font color="#228b22">]</font> ] Put that code in, minus the nowiki tags. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
the code does not work
- Tried to help, obviously "pilot error", code works fine for me. Giving up, another editor can help. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:32, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Code does work - see User:Ronhjones/Sandbox2, just open that page to edit and copy the text. Ronhjones 22:04, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- No problem...Take Care. :) - Neutralhomer • Talk • 22:10, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Paradise trees.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Paradise trees.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Misplaced Pages takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 02:52, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Paradise trees was not uploaded from the internet it was one of my personal pictures. So it would make sense that it would not have cobyright information. Inka 888 (talk) 04:27, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

how do you put a copyright tag on a picture?
- Choose one of the licenses at WP:ICTIC that you want to use for your image. Then copy that template (e.g.
{{GFDL-self}}
), edit File:Paradise trees.jpg, paste it on the page, and save. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao 16:55, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

confirmed users
what are the reasons that someone would become a confirmed user. Inka 888 (talk) 02:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- If they needed to upload an image before being autoconfirmed, for example. Basically if they have a valid reason to need to do something that they can't currently do but autoconfirmed users can. —fetch·comms 02:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

how to close rfa WP:NOTNOW. Inka 22:17, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you don't know, you likely don't need to close it right now (MZMcBride's? That would not be an appropriate rationale anyway.) See Misplaced Pages:Guide_to_requests_for_adminship#Closure on closing. —fetch·comms 22:28, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Hmm
This is not good advice to give to a blocked user. Creating a sock would create more problems for them. It might be best if you were to avoid involving yourself with user conduct problems until you have a better understanding of the user conduct policies and guidelines. –xeno 03:39, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- The message i was trying to give that user is that he no matter what he should stop violating the WP:OUTING policy and no matter what account he has he has to follow that rule. Inka 03:51, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- It came out wrong. Best just to stick to the basics for now. –xeno 03:52, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we must insist that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not on User talk:Fastily. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jrod2 (talk) 22:18, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- if you look at the user page User:Fastilysock, it identifies the account as an alternate account of Fastily. There are limited legitimate uses of identified alternate accounts, such as use at public computers where log in information my be compromised. Active Banana ( 22:27, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

- Well, I'll ask this question nicely: did you read the description on the Fastily's sock userpage, and follow the links that show it to be a valid use of an alternate account before you approached Fastily directly? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 20:08, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

when you click on fastliysock's signature it goes to fastily's talk page. I can understand how what i said was a bit harsh BUT it was NOT breaking the assume good faith guideline. Inka 21:18, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Misplaced Pages has a lot of different "rules" and ettiquite in a lot of different places and as a newcomer it can be steep learning curve. Hopefully your stumbles will diminish as you become more familiar with the site, but we all make mistakes. Active Banana ( 21:24, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm not really sure what your referring to. Inka 21:33, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- I am saying that a lot of the comments on your talk page, including mine, look a little bit like piling on a newcomer and I hope that you dont feel like you are being bitten and run away, but instead take the opportunity to learn from initial misteps and find how you can constructively fit into the community of building an encyclopedia. Active Banana ( 21:40, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

full protection vs. Permanent protection
I'm not getting what Permanent protection is. Is it like indef full protection or indef semi protection? Inka 03:59, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Full protection means that only administrators can edit a page. Semi protection means that only autoconfirmed users can edit the page. Permanent protection is indefinite, yes. As it says at Misplaced Pages:Protection#Permanent_protection, Only accounts that are associated with these pages or administrators are able to edit them. Hope that helps! — GorillaWarfare 04:06, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

RFA closure
I reverted your NOTNOW RFA closure, as it wasn't properly formatted. Townlake (talk) 02:00, 29 August 2010 (UTC) what was wrong with it? Inka 02:02, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
was it because i forgot to move the info from the rfa to the closed page. Inka 02:04, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- You blanked the page. The text gets kept in the archive. Townlake (talk) 02:09, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh sorry, long day. Inka 02:15, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- You messed up the closure the second time (here), and I had an edit conflict at the same time. I had to re-close the RfA, and since I wasn't going to sign for you, I signed my name. Hence, the current version states that I closed it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 05:05, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

arcive talk page
how do you arcive your talk page? Inka 22:30, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Help:Archive; create /Archive 1 and copy-paste everything currently on this page into there and remove it from here. Then use {{archive box}} or something to keep the link. —fetch·comms 22:34, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
thanks Inka 22:35, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Just a tip, if you searched in the search bar for what you need help with, you would probably figure it out a lot faster. —fetch·comms 22:36, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Or...if you want it to be automatic. If you want, tell me the number of days that, beyond which, you want things auto-archived, and I'll put the code in for you. (just say x days, below, if you want it doing; and I'll explain the code I put in) Chzz ► 23:05, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
11 days, thanks. Inka 23:07, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK; I've set up this page for auto-archiving.
Normally, I prefer to explain how to do stuff, but in the case of archive set-up, it's easier to just do it for you. The code to make it work is here; the bot should start within 24 hours.
It's set to 11 days (11d), which you can of course change. Note that a) it won't archive very small threads or things with no sigs in (ie no date) - you can cut those yourself and paste them into the archive page if you want.
So - that's about it; no action required, just let the bot do its thing, and - if I've done it correctly - all should be well. If it goes wrong, of course, give me a shout. Chzz ► 06:31, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Small waterfall.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Small waterfall.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

i got reviewer i don't know how to put the little topicon at the top of the page. --Inka 00:57, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Add {{reviewer topicon}} to the userpage. —fetch·comms 00:59, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

I am trying to put the little trout thing on my user page but it keeps going on top of my reviewer topican. Inka 03:39, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you actually bother to read Template:Reviewer topicon, you'll find the answer there. Add
| icon_nr =1
to the reviewer icon. This is a good example of why searching first rather than just asking a volunteer to do it for you is a much better solution. —fetch·comms 03:46, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
not what i'm talking about. i'm talking about the troutme thing when i try to put that next my reviewer topican it gets all screwed up. Inka 03:50, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- I fixed it. You can look at what I did to see how you could add more, if you ever want to. ~~ Hi878 04:11, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Inka 888, my answer would have fixed it, too. Next time, don't assume that I don't understand the question, just try the answer first. It's very frustrating when someone tries to help but gets rejected because the questioner doesn't bother seeing if the answer works or not. —fetch·comms 12:46, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Give a man a fish ... (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:49, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- True, but I figured that once Inka takes three seconds to look at it, help won't be needed anymore. ~~ Hi878 17:17, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- ...and that's not the issue in whole. Almost every single {{helpme}} request has been something that was easily findable using a 2-word search term. It's a lot of spoonfeeding. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:37, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Post that concerns you at admin noticeboard
Hi, Inka. I wanted to inform you of a thread I posted to the Administrator's Noticeboard for Incidents. I'll ask your pardon in advance if I'm mistaken, but I've seen some things (documented there) that lead me to believe that you could be associated with one or more other accounts that have been rather a problem in the past week or so. You can post any reply you might like to make to me personally right here on your talk page, just below this message. I won't miss it, since I've put this page on my "watchlist" to make sure I don't. And, of course, you might also like to reply at WP:ANI. Probably the best way to find the post would be to go to the ANI page and just search with your browser's search function for your user ID there. If you don't see this message for some time, the thread could already have closed, and you might have to search the ANI archives to find it. Again, I'm sorry if my perceptions of the facts I've seen may have misled me, if you're not, in fact, associated with these other accounts. Best regards, – OhioStandard (talk) 10:56, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, again, Inka. I just wanted to admit my mistake here: I've retracted the suggestion I made at ANI that you might be the same person as the other accounts I mentioned there, and have
struck-throughthe relevant passages. Sorry for making the mistake. Best, – OhioStandard (talk) 14:55, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer authorization
Hi again, Inka. As I was cleaning up a few things I noticed you'd just been granted "Reviewer" permission. I'm probably not the best person to say this, given my own mistake just above, but will you please go very, very slowly with that, at first? And will you especially make sure you completely understand all the relevant polices that apply to the use of that permission before you start? I only ask because many of the comments above on this page appear to express frustration over what people seem to have interpreted as an unwillingness on your part to read through the documentation. It's great that you want to help out with admin-like duties – I appreciate that, truly – but the more permissions you get the easier it becomes to mess things up in a bigger way, too. Hope you don't mind my saying so, and asking you to read up on how to use the tool before you jump in with both feet. Thanks, – OhioStandard (talk) 15:24, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I will be careful with reviewer before i use it heavily. --Inka 21:42, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Inka 888. I just had a look through your contributions and I must say, looking much better! Just a quick reminder - be sure that you are actually reverting vandalism, edits like this are not vandalism. With all due respect, I'd like to wait a few more days before adding the right to your account; I think a few more days of experience wouldn't hurt. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching. Is there a reason why you removed the license tag from File:Small waterfall.jpg? --Carnildo (talk) 21:00, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- How do you explain this edit, then? To me, it looks like you removing the Free Art License tag. --Carnildo (talk) 22:12, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've seen people remove tags out of frustration, or because they don't know what it is, or because they want the image to be deleted, or simply because they don't like how the tag looks. Since I can't read minds, I have to ask to find out why. --Carnildo (talk) 00:39, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
