The General David Humphreys House, located at 37 Elm St., Ansonia, Connecticut, was built from 1695 to 1698 and is the birthplace of the Revolutionary War officer David Humphreys. Humphreys was a friend of George Washington and later became the first ambassador of the United States to a foreign country. The historic house museum has been restored to a mid 18th century appearance, and serves as the headquarters for the Derby Historical Society.
