Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Template:LostNav (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection Specifically, one or more anon editors keep changing one of the links in this template, so that it refers to a page that is up for deletion, Episodes of Lost (season 3)(2). That page, which contains various unverified and speculative material, was created as an end run around the protection that had to be put in place on Episodes of Lost (season 3) for the same reasons. Judging from what happened with that article: without protection of the template now that references the article, we'll be in a constant pattern of having to revert this insertion numerous times a day. -- PKtm 21:21, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Posted here from entry on WP:AN/I. Hbdragon88 22:33, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. Voice-of-All 23:34, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Template:Infobox Television episode (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Full protection Ongoing severe edit dispute between two users. — CRAZY`(IN)`SANE 20:33, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- The two of them seem to have stopped, so temporarily declined, but I will watch the page and protect it should the war continue. Cowman109 20:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Emma Watson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection Take a look at the article's history. Carmelapple 17:39, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected due to IP vandalism. Cowman109 18:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Mnemonic (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Repeated addition of a spam external link to pmemory.com and removal of the spam cleanup template.
- Semi-protected for now, as it appears that the spam has been re-appearing over time. Will unprotect in a few days. Cowman109 16:32, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
User talk:Shakim67 (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)
Full protection for the duration on whatever blocks may be on this user and to end the drama that continues to occur here between two users. It may also be useful to do the same protections on User talk:Can't Nobody Step To Me (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs) and User talk:CertifiedGangsta (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs) as they are sockpuppets accounts proven through the first Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/Case/Shakim67. Ryūlóng 06:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure if the page should be full protected - users should not be completely shut out from Misplaced Pages unless they are abusing their talk page, in my opinion. I'll wait for another sysop to see what they think should be done though. Cowman109 07:02, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Page has been full protected by Pgk for unblock request abuse. Cowman109 20:13, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Heavy metal in Muslim majority countries (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Article was recently greenlit on Fark.com. Some IP vandalism has already occurred, and it is likely to get worse. -- stubblyhead | /c 05:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Support: The site was 'Farked', and as a result, there has been a constant barrage of vandalism. As stubblyh stated, now that it has been 'greelit', there will be many more visitors driving to the article which will only increase the vandalism. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 05:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Semi protected so we don't have another Colbert Report mess. Cowman109 05:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Zeta Beta Tau (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection: Constant insertions of copyvio material by IP addresses, but most recently an established account. Ryūlóng 00:50, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected by user:FayssalF. Cowman109 03:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
FC Chernomorets Odessa (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection: Page has been subject to edit wars in a conflict described here, . User is convinced that this is the case and has repeatedly moved the page, even though he has no expertise in the area. Issue is also a part fo an ongoing edit-war here, here, and here. --Palffy 21:14, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- support (even if it is something on itself, unrelated to everything else)--Kwame Nkrumah 21:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Protected from moves as this appears to be a move warring issue. Cowman109 21:31, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- And I recently unprotected after speaking with those involved and given recent evidence of the official name. Should move warring continue I will reprotect it. Cowman109 03:27, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Nazism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection:The article has been vandalized so many times by IP user. I don't know what will happen in the article at the future. If the article that I've mentioned is not semi-protected, there will be more vandals on article Nazism, many aggressive edits. I hope admin could semi-protect article Nazism for few days. *~Daniel~* ☎ 03:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Declined, though I have watchlisted the article and will block the IP should he continue making disruptive edits. Cowman109 03:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
User:MiraLuka/Userboxes/User liberal (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
This page was semi-protected due to IP vandalism when it was located at Template:User liberal, but it's been almost two weeks now. I think it's safe to unprotect it. -Mira 08:00, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Ukraine national football team (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting unprotection: the debate about kits continued at Template talk:Infobox National football team, and one of the protagonists is now banned. IMHO, warnings about sanctions for breaking WP:3RR and the issue going for mediation might have been more appropriate. I have been stopped from completing an update of the infobox (done for every other UEFA mamber) by this protection, which is rather galling. There are international matches in a few days, and a new set of FIFA rankings due out soon, which would make lengthy protection undesirable. Kevin McE 00:34, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- I unprotected the page so the team can be further updated, but note that the user I believe you are talking about was not banned, but only blocked for 3 hours to calm down. Cowman109 03:24, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Episodes of Lost (season 3) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting unprotection. page was protected as other users claim that information on page is false. the said information has since been confirmed by the writers of the show. thunderous503 10:36, 10th August 2006 (UTC)
- Has a consensus been reached on the talk page to include such information? Misplaced Pages is based off of verifiability, and the most important thing would be to have citations if you are dealing with controversial information. The page was protected recently, so I wouldn't want to unprotect only to have the edit war continue. Cowman109 20:01, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Cowman, you are correct in your cautiousness here. It is incorrect that "the said information has since been confirmed by the writers of the show". -- PKtm 23:10, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection:For the past 24 hours disputes with anonymous IP have paralyzed the normal editing of the article. The anons (most likely sockpuppets, at least one who was identified as a stalking SlimVirgin for a previous block ) use Misplaced Pages policies as a way of constantly reverting each other while avoiding the talk page like the plague. Jean-Philippe 06:41, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected due to heavy vandalism. Voice-of-All 06:45, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Full protection Edit war over Holocaust on your Plate heading.Above user is breaking a wikilink to that section by removing the heading. 200.88.223.98 06:46, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Power Rangers Mystic Force (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting unprotection: having tried to make changes so that the information reflects the official page and schedules, I have been blocked by a person who has decided only he should have the power to make changes to the page. Instead of discussion, he has gone straight to blocking everyone from editing the page. It is childish and should not be supported. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.132.127.27 (talk • contribs)
- There is currently a discussion towards consensus going on at the talk page of this article. The above anonymous user is merely trying to subvert the process of the discussion. Ryūlóng 03:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Declined as discussion is still undergoing in the talkpage. Cowman109 03:27, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- I protected the page because an edit war has been developing over the past few days. The only way to solve this war is to force the involved parties to discuss their thoughts, which is what should have been done from the start. --Chris (talk) 03:29, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Lee Kaplan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Free Republic (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting unprotection. Page has sat protected for nearly a month, and discussion about the issues at hand has been idle for several weeks. Some agreement had been reached, though the dispute mainly centered around an anon editor who would not back up his claims.--RWR8189 21:18, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Un-protected. Its been protected for long enough. Hopefully things have calmed down since then. Voice-of-All 21:34, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Semi-protection. IP editor reverting 3 established editors, violating 3RR. Jayjg 18:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Declined - a single non-rotating IP. I have left the user a note on his talk page. Should he continue he will be blocked for edit warring. Cowman109 19:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

This page is being protected way too often for an important current event. I've suggested a change that could help re-route traffic to the "presidential duties transfer" article which is more fitted for updates to the current event. -- TexasDawg 19:51, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected as it's a current event. Six days is long enough. Cowman109 20:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This article was protected 4 days ago for 'image removal'. While there were a few vandalism edits from I.P users, most of the trouble was edit warring among registered users. It also blocked a lot of contributions from good I.P users, who were helping with the article (since it's a big news item, a lot of non-usual editors made changes). I think four days is long enough for a page linked to the main page to be protected. Iorek85 00:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected as it links to the main page and it has been long enough. Cowman109 19:54, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
User:Sarastro777 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Two admins bypassed Misplaced Pages:Dispute Resolution, blanked my userpage, and then protected by skipping this page, so that they can leave it to their liking without discussion, oversight, consensus, or any judicial'esque process provided for here on Misplaced Pages. Admittedly some of the material is controversial which is why a Protect is completely inappropriate way to handle a content dispute. Especially when the Admins themselves are involved in the matter, using their tools against 'ordinary' users is esp. egregious and unfair abuse of civility in edit/content disputes. As always I request Admins not involved in Middle East articles or with interaction with me to handle matter in the interest of fairness/transparency for all sides. Sarastro777 22:33, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Deciding admin, please see Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Sarastro777's user page before making a decision. As I posted that request, I am recusing myself from denial/affirmation. However, Sarastro, if you always have to request that a new admin who has not interacted with you before look at this, and this is not the first time ("as always"), that in and of itself should tell you something. -- Avi 22:39, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- Declined as the page is being used for a platform for personal attacks and there is a current discussion on ANI. Please allow the WP:ANI report to settle things. Cowman109 20:04, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I am requesting temporary Semi-protection: this article has been the subject of frequent anonymous vandalism (including speedy deletion tags!) after this post appeared on an external website, placing the article under massive attack on the grounds of censorship, and calling Misplaced Pages "Nazipedia". While I can see the source of controversy, this matter cannot be left in the hands of anonymous contributors without a prior discussion, let alone when it involves speedy deletion...
