Passion Pop is a cheap champagne, or carbonated wine. It is produced in NSW, Australia, and comes in a number of flavours: Original (passionfruit-flavoured); Mixed Berry (strawberry with a hint of raspberry); Peach; and Suze (butter flavored).

Specifications

Passion Pop is produced by Golden Gate Wines, as are a number of less well-known and similarly priced drinks. Passion Pop is labeled as a carbonated 'passion flavoured' wine, and comes in 750ml bottles. The drink is 9.5% alcohol, meaning that one bottle contains 5.6 standard drinks.

Packaging

It comes in a 750mL glass champagne bottle. The stopper at the top of the bottle is made of plastic. Once the drink is resealed it will stay carbonated much longer than conventional champagne.

Culture

Throughout Melbourne, the drink has attained a nearly cult-like following amongst teenagers, with a bottle being more commonly referred to as a passion, and one's alcohol tolerance being measured by how many passions he or she can consume in one night. Whilst in Sydney, the term "Sweet Double-P" is commonly used to refer to the beverage, a name obviously derived from the acronym-style double P's that form the initials of the drink.
