Dartfishes are a subfamily, Ptereleotrinae, of goby-like fishes in the family Microdesmidae of the order Perciformes. They are saltwater fish.With the Jarrod Dartfish being the largest of its species.
The dartfishes were briefly raised to family status, but have now been re-incorporated into the family Microdesmidae as a subfamily.
