The club operates two facilities. A city house is located at 180 Central Park South in Manhattan. It comprises two restaurants, a library, athletic training facilities, swimming pool and guest rooms housed in a 22 story building. The club's "summer home" is located on Traver's Island in Pelham, NY. Prior to the 2000 Olympic Games, NYAC members had won 115 Olympic gold medals, 40 silver medals and 47 bronze medals, more than all but four nations. The Club offers many sports including but not limited to; Wrestling, Boxing, Fencing, Basketball, Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Handball, Squash and at least a dozen others not listed here.
The club's notable members have included Wlliam Fugazy, Wellington Mara, Rocky Aoki (Benihana founder)John F. Kennedy, Jr., A.P. Giannini (Bank of America founder) and Gavin McLeod (TV actor).
Notable Events
In November 2003, the club was the site of a four game chess match between Garry Kasparov and the computer program X3D Fritz. In November 2005, the Saturday morning program, the prestigious children's program run by the club gathered nearly $17,000 dollars for the Ronald McDonald House run, an event which the program has participated in for several years.
Every month for half of the year the Fencing club hosts a tournament known as the Mercury Cup. It is an épée exclusive tournament, and is known for having many more accomplished fencers than unaccomplished ones, because of this, it is also known as being one of the harder ones that anyone can enter. The last Mercury cup of a year is known as the "Épéepalooza"
