The lowercase sigmabots and my Toolforge services are still running, but are unmaintained. In the event of crashes/outages/errors, note that aside from myself, User:0xDeadbeef, User:The Earwig, and User:APerson also have administrative access and can troubleshoot. |
I cannot help with issues about archiving your own talk page. If you have read the documentation carefully and are still having problems, a prompt and friendly answer can usually be found by asking at the teahouse. |

Edit summary tool documentation?
Could you please create a documentation page about that useful tool? I already know of many ways this can or could be used and there doesn't seem to be any alternative to it so it's kind of important. It would be good to have a separate documentation page for example so that issues about the tool can be discussed there. For example, it would be nice if you or somebody else could add a filter so it only shows edits that create a new section or are page creations. Where is the code of this tool or is it not free software? Prototyperspective (talk) 17:51, 18 November 2024 (UTC) Please reply. --Prototyperspective (talk) 11:58, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Israeli Invasion of Syria
I see that you archived the talk regarding changing the name of Israeli Invasion of Syria. The issue is, as multiple users pointed out, there was no indicator that the discussion had ended and the user who officially 'ended it' was not an admin and in fact had only recently acquired extended confirmed user status, and did not respond to multiple requests to clarify what made him believe a clearly active discussion should be closed. Therefore, I am curious why you archived the discussion? (do you disagree with the observation that there was nothing indicating the discussion had ended when it was closed?) - (talk page watcher) @Shaked13: You don't state which page this is in relation to. I am guessing that it is Talk:2024 Israeli invasion of Syria, if not, please provide a link to the exact page involved.
- Anyway, assuming that my guess is correct, that page has a
{{User:MiszaBot/config}}
having the parameter|algo=old(3d)
. This means that if a thread has no activity for three days (based upon the timestamps of the posts), it becomes eligible for archiving. This archiving edit occurred at 21:01, 30 December 2024 (UTC) and at the time, the most recent timestamp in that thread was 05:49, 27 December 2024 (UTC), which is just over three days and fifteen hours earlier than the archiving edit. The bot is operating correctly. --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 08:59, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
Jayanthkumar's talk page
Please delete User talk:Jayanthkumar123/Archive 5. You've created it without creating User talk:Jayanthkumar123/Archive 4, so I've redirected it there. DareshMohan (talk) 09:26, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @DareshMohan: This was an error on the part of Jayanthkumar123 (talk · contribs). Between 05:19 and 05:23, 20 December 2024, they created Archive 1, Archive 2 and Archive 3 after which they made this edit followed by this edit, which together set
|counter=5
. Therefore Lowercase sigmabot III was being explicitly directed to put the next archived thread into User talk:Jayanthkumar123/Archive 5.|counter=
should have been set to either 3, being the highest numbered existing archive, or to 4, being the next unused number. I've deleted the redirect that you left behind, and also fixed the|counter=
parameter. --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 16:09, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
total number of archived discussions
Hello. I am not sure who is currently maintaining the bot, and who to ask this question/request (as you have been inactive here since 2 years).
Currently, I have a task to send out notifications for Teahouse thread/discussion archival (User:KiranBOT/Teahouse notification). For that task, it is crucial that Lowercase sigmabot III mentions the total number of discussions that were archived. For example, in this edit the bot archived 86 discussions in total, out of which 31 to "Archive 1246", and rest were to 1245. The edit summary says "Archiving 31 discussion(s) to Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1246, Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1245
". My request is, would it be possible to add the total number of archived discussions to the edit summary? ie, "
Archiving 86 discussion(s) to Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1246, Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1245
", if it is a lot complicated, then would following summary be possible "Archiving 31 discussion(s) to Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1246, Archiving 55 discussion(s) Misplaced Pages:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1245
"? —usernamekiran (talk) 15:25, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
