"The Shadow of a Man" is a 1953 American television play based on a 1950 novel by May Sarton. Its starred French actor Claude Dauphin who was appearing on Broadway in The Happy Time.
Premise
A Bostonian man travels to Paris and falls in love with a friend of his mother.

Reception
The Independent called it "a truly adult production and one of which Studio One can long be proud."
1950 Version
The play had been filmed by Studio One in November 1950 with Ilona Massey. Sumner Locke Elliott also did that adaptation.
Boston Globe wrote "the time was well spent and the result well worth the effort."
